Profile

Councilman Ricky Jones is a lifelong Texan committed to serving his community with integrity, fiscally conservative leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility to his neighbors. Originally from Ennis, Texas, Ricky and his wife Samantha have built their life around family, faith, and community. They are proud parents of two boys and chose to make New Fairview their home in 2024 because it offered something increasingly difficult to find in the surrounding area.

Ricky and his family were drawn to New Fairview because of the community’s availability of larger residential lots and a more rural environment. Having personally valued the ability to live in a place with room to breathe and raise a family, Ricky is passionate about pushing for future development that comes before him to continue to provide that same opportunity for others who may be looking for the same qualities that brought his family to the area. He believes growth should be approached thoughtfully so New Fairview can continue developing its identity as a hometown where families can enjoy space, community, and long-term stability.

Ricky has a strong record of local public service. Prior to relocating to New Fairview, he served as a member of the Justin City Council, where he gained firsthand experience working through the practical challenges cities face as they grow.

After moving to New Fairview in 2024, Ricky remained committed to staying involved and serving where there was a need. He began by serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission, where he gained perspective on New Fairview's development, land use, and long-term planning considerations that impact the future of the community.

In November 2025, Ricky was appointed by the Council to fill a vacated seat on the New Fairview City Council. After completing the remainder of that term, he chose to continue serving and ran unopposed for City Council Place 1 in 2026. Ricky considers it an honor to serve the residents of New Fairview and values the trust placed in him by the community.

Professionally, Ricky brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in emergency medical services and healthcare operations. He currently serves as Vice President of Operations for a multi-state healthcare organization, where he oversees operational performance, budgeting, regulatory compliance, logistics, staffing, and service delivery. Throughout his career, Ricky has focused on building strong teams, improving systems and processes, and ensuring accountability while maintaining high standards of service. His background in public safety and business acumen as an executive leader provides practical insight as New Fairview plans responsibly for the future.

Ricky believes public service begins with being a good neighbor and stepping forward where there is a need. He is committed to helping New Fairview continue developing its identity as a hometown place where people know their neighbors, take pride in their community, and feel confident raising their families.

As a fiscal conservative, Ricky supports responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and supports exploring opportunities for interlocal cooperation with neighboring communities that can improve services while managing costs. He believes local and regional governments can work together in practical ways that benefit residents while maintaining a low tax burden.

Councilman Jones priorities this term:

  • Maintaining a low tax rate through fiscally responsible budgeting
  • Public safety planning as the city grows
  • Development that aligns with the character of the community, including larger residential lots for families seeking space
  • Practical ordinances that protect residents and preserve community standards
  • Cooperative opportunities with neighboring communities that allow New Fairview to provide high-quality services in a financially responsible manner
  • Dark sky initiatives that help preserve the rural character of the community through reducing light pollution and promoting responsible lighting standards
